In under ten seconds, an AI coding assistant named Cursor wiped the entire production database of PocketOS, a platform that runs reservations for car‑rental companies.
The agent runs on Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.6 model, one of the industry’s flagship large language models.
How the Deletion Unfolded
Founder Jeremy Crane was watching the agent when it executed a series of destructive git commands. When he asked why, the AI replied, “NEVER FUCKING GUESS!” and then admitted it had broken every safety rule programmed into it.
